About us

Welcome to Pitchstone Music, where we believe in the transformative power of music to connect and uplift communities.

Live music is sometimes described as a luxury in schools and in communities - but across every civilisation, people have turned to music, storytelling and art as part of what makes survival meaningful. Music and culture help us to make sense of ourselves and one another. Music strengthens empathy, deepens reflection, and creates opportunities for communities to gather around something larger than their individual concerns. Music cannot solve social problems on its own, but it can help create the conditions in which people listen, connect and flourish together.

At Pitchstone Music we believe world-class music belongs not only in prestigious concert halls, but in local communities. We believe everyone deserves access to beauty, creativity and moments of shared reflection. Because beneath our backgrounds, profession and life experiences lies something universal; a longing to belong, to be understood, and to find meaning together in the stories we share.

Rachel Roberts is the founder of Pitchstone Music. Her vision centres around bringing world-class music to our community in Leytonstone, East London

The beauty of the church, the passion…I am uplifted, inspired and encouraged.

OUR VISION

At Pitchstone Music, we envision a compassionate world where music is a dynamic force that enriches lives, strengthens communities and fosters individual well-being. We aspire to a society where everyone can access and celebrate creativity and individuality; where unheard voices are amplified and valued, and where music and self-expression are upheld as natural capabilities.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to enrich lives, foster imagination and curiosity, and facilitate human flourishing through community listening, interaction and music-making. Through performance, participation and co-creation we offer a haven in a chaotic world and a space for reflection, fulfilment, togetherness and joy.

OUR VALUES

  • Integrity: We uphold the highest standards across all our work and we believe that excellence is the foundation of trust, depth of experience, and lasting impact.

  • Belonging: We create environments where people feel seen, welcomed and valued.

  • Compassion: We design every experience with empathy and care, with dignity at the core of our practice.

  • Courage: We make bold artistic choices and create safe spaces for honest expression.

  • Curiosity: We nurture exploration, imagination, lifelong learning, and creative discovery.

'…the sheer brilliance of the performance and feeling tied to strangers by the power of that experience was unlike any other I had ever experienced…sitting in the crowd, reading why certain pieces were selected to be performed and the memories they held, I felt a profound respect for the life being remembered...from the very moment we were greeted with smiles at the door, it set the tone for what a lovely experience this would be…volunteering as an usher feels like a meaningful way to contribute to the warmth and care that made the concert so special'
