About The Event
Cellist Gemma Rosefield made her concerto debut at the age of 16 and won the prestigious Pierre Fournier Award in 2007, she has been described as a 'mesmerising musical treasure' by The Strad. Tim Horton is an internationally acclaimed pianist and is presenting his complete Chopin cycle at Wigmore Hall over the 2025-2026 seasons.
On April 10, they will join Pitchstone Music for a lunchtime concert bringing together two contrasting masterpieces which resonate with our world here in Leytonstone. Shostakovich’s sonata reminds us of the resilience of the human spirit—something our community understands well. Mendelssohn’s sonata, on the other hand, is a celebration of creativity, optimism, and the sheer joy of making music—values that sit at the heart of our musical community.
